Liel Abada Celtic exit pathway opens as English Premier League side 'interested' in starlet amid contract factor

Liel Abada has big interest from the English Premier League according to reports but could be set for new contract talks at Celtic.

The young Israeli appears to be have been a revelation under Ange Postecoglou since arriving in the summer last year from Maccabi Petah Tikva for £3m. Abada hit the ground running under the Australian, creating a symbiotic partnership with the likes of Kyogo and Jota and his performances for the Hoops haven't gone unnoticed.

According to the Scottish Daily Express, English Premier League outfit Southampton have done their homework on the youngster and are interested. The report states that the Saints have an 'extensive scouting dossier' on Abada as new boss Nathan Jones prepares his January window plans.

But Postecoglou's side are also planning contract talks with the fan favourite according to the report and will look to fend off interest with fresh terms for the winger. Southampton previously used Celtic as a pool for big signings, shown by the success of Virgil Van Dijk, Fraser Forster and Stuart Armstrong to name but a few.

The Scottish champions are also being braced for the potential exits of Giorgos Giakoumakis and Josip Juranovic with both players said to be attracting interest and contract talks 'stalling' in Glasgow. Greek forward Giakoumakis is looking for better terms on a new deal according to reports while defender Juranovic has the likes of La Liga big hitters Barcelona and Atletico Madrid keen after a solid World Cup.
