Lidl's £12.99 trainers are selling on eBay in Nottingham for £50

They're what you would call a fashion... statement? But people are going mad for Lidl's new clothing and shoe range.

It was announced earlier this month that Lidl would be releasing its own clothing range in the UK, complete with its highly sought after trainers.

The shoes were originally released last year but only in certain countries, leaving shoppers eagerly awaiting them to hit shelves in UK stores.

New search figures from Love the Sales have shown the trainers to be in high demand, even outdoing some of the most popular designer trainer releases.

When high-end brand Balenciaga released its popular Triple S trainers in 2017, around 110,000 shoppers were searching for the shoes online, while the Yeezy Boost 700 was searched 33,100 times, Liverpool Echo reports.

Lidl's £12.99 trainers have racked up 135,000 searches since the release was announced, exceeding the demand for both of the designer brands' shoes.

And since their release, they are now being sold in vast swathes on sites such as eBay - some for £50 each in Nottingham.

That's nearly four times Lidl's RRP as shoppers eagerly try to get hold of the trainer.

The budget store released a full clothing line complete with the Lidl logo on Thursday September 16.

The 'Lidl by Lidl' collection includes socks, swim shorts, and a foldable shopping tote bag in various designs.

Lidl's new clothing range is available in stores nationwide from Thursday, September 16, while stock lasts.
