Lidl Ireland issue urgent recall of a handheld vacuum cleaner over risks it could catch fire

Lidl Ireland has issued an urgent recall of a handheld vacuum cleaner over risks it could catch fire.

A safety problem has been found in the SilverCrest handheld vacuum which went on sale last week.

Some 2,204 units were sold in Ireland since September 21.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has issued a warning that the vacuums are a fire risk during use or while charging.

The CCPC said: "Lidl Ireland will be displaying point of sale posters in their stores to inform consumers of this recall.
