Licht: Buccaneers Will Leave ‘Flashlight’ on for Tom Brady

With Tom Brady having announced his retirement, the Buccaneers are in the market for a quarterback for the first time in three years. While the team is currently considering a few quarterbacks, their best option could still be if Brady decides to come out of retirement, again.

Last year, the Buccaneers did not get too far into their offseason when Brady chose to come back for the 2022 season, and the team may be hoping that something like that happens again.

At the NFL combine on Tuesday, general manager Jason Licht said he might be leaving on “a flashlight” in the facility if Brady does want to come back. However, Licht did confirm that he believes the 45-year-old is retired for good this time.

Tampa Bay only has one quarterback currently under contract for the 2023 season—third-year player Kyle Trask who has only played in one game in his NFL career. Otherwise, the Buccaneers will have to look outside the organization for their next starting quarterback.

Considering Brady had a major impact for Tampa Bay in just three years with the team, the Buccaneers seem like they will always be open to having him return to the franchise in any capacity.
