Libyan health authorities said 50 new cases were registered in the second-highest daily increase in COVID-19 cases. Authorities in the war-torn country have so far recorded 874 infections, 25 deaths, and 223 recoveries.

The Libyan National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) received on Wednesday 788 samples to be tested for coronavirus. A total of 738 came back negative while the rest were positive.

NCDC said it continues - in cooperation with UNICEF and international partners - to work on a campaign in the southern region to raise awareness and educate the community about the threat of the novel coronavirus and the precautionary measures that should be taken.

While Tripoli seeks to return stranded citizens in other countries, it faces various obstacles such as the lack of sufficient locations for quarantine.

Mitiga International Airport announced Wednesday canceling two flights from Alexandria. The airport’s administration urged hotel owners to show cooperation and solidarity to welcome travelers seeking quarantine.

The Libyan Embassy in Egypt announced that it will continue to repatriate stranded Libyans through two flights per day.

Also, the Government of National Accord (GNA) stated that it is working on providing additional locations for quarantine.

In the same context, the Libyan National Army's Coronavirus Epidemic Advisory Medical Committee noted that its medical team for awareness and protection continues its tour inside public and private medical facilities to raise awareness through lectures on the threat of the coronavirus and the precautionary measures that should be taken.
