Liam Gallagher in Cardiff: Stage times, support, banned items, road closures and how to get there

Liam Gallagher is in Wales to perform at Alexandra Head in Cardiff Bay on Thursday, September 15. The former Oasis frontman has been gigging all summer, including a revisit to iconic venue Knebworth, in support of his new album C'mon You Know.

The singer will perform tracks from that new album as well as Oasis classics. So for fans of the Gallagher brother it's time to get your macs and daps on and sing along to your favourite tunes as the bonafide rock 'n' roll star sees off the summer with us in style.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the gig including stage times, set list, how to get there and more.

Who's the support?

Classic baggy/indie country boys, The Charlatans will be the main support.

Also on the bill are Pastel, Huw Stephens and Paul Gallagher.

What are the stage times?

The doors open at 4pm and the music kicks off at 6.00pm. The first artist performing will be Pastel at 6pm, Huw Stephens at 6.45pm, Charlatans at 7.30pm, Paul Gallagher at 8.30pm and Liam Gallagher will take to the stage at 9pm.

What can/can't you take to the gig?

What you should/can bring:

  • You can bring in a sealed 500ml water bottle or empty water bottle. Any unsealed bottle or bottle over 500ml will be poured out at the door.
  • You can bring a small bag no larger that 21cm x 30cm x 10cm - the size of an A4 piece of paper.

Do not bring:

  • There is a zero-tolerance drug policy with searching/sniffer dogs at the entrance. Anyone found with any illegal substances will not be allowed in and passed over to the police.
  • No beverages or food, aside from water, are allowed to be brought into the site.
  • No buggies & pushchairs are allowed on site.
  • No camping chairs are permitted on site – there is seating on the accessible platform exclusive to those with disabilities.

How to get to Alexandra Head

The Liam gig takes place at Alexandra Head which is found en route to the Cardiff Bay Barrage. You can only access the event from the Cardiff side of the barrage, there will be no access via the Penarth end. The address for the gig is: Alexandra Head, Cardiff Bay, CF10 4PA.

Make sure your shoes are comfy as the walk from Mermaid Quay is decent, it is also going to be signposted. Depending on where you park and how quickly you walk, the walk to the gig could take up to 15 minutes from Mermaid Quay.

Anybody wishing to walk or cycle to the concert from Penarth will need to cross the barrage to Porth Teigr before 3pm, or cross via Pont Y Werin bridge.

Where to park?

There are several car parks in the Bay from where you will walk to Alexandra Head.

- Q-Park Pierhead St, Cardiff CF10 4PH

- Britannia Car Park, Harbour Dr, Cardiff CF10 4WZ

- Mermaid Quay, Stuart St, Cardiff CF10 5BS

- Havannah Street, Cardiff CF10 5SF

There is also street parking at Schooner Way and Hemingway Rd. Additional car parking will be available at County Hall from midday, costing £5.

Road Closures

Road closures will be in place on Britannia Quay, Harbour Drive, and Porth Teigr Way (at the roundabout by the entrance to the barrage) from 3pm.

Cardiff Bay Barrage will be closed from 3pm on Thursday, September 15. It is expected to re-open at approximately 11.30pm. Boats will still be able to enter and exit Cardiff Bay via the lock gates.

Ticketholder access to the event is from the Porth Teigr end of the Barrage only. There is no access from the Penarth side. Anybody wishing to walk or cycle to the event from Penarth will need to cross the Barrage to Porth Teigr before 3pm, or cross via the Pont Y Werin bridge.
