Liam Burt features for Celtic XI as former Rangers youngster steps up bid to win deal

Former Rangers youngster Liam Burt featured as a trialist for Celtic reserves on Sunday.

The midfielder left Ibrox at the end of last season but sparked transfer speculation by turning up at the Hoops' Lennoxtown training base last month.

We later told how he'd been handed the chance to train with the Premiership champions in a bid to earn a contract.

And now he's been pictured in green and white for the first time in a friendly clash against Arbroath.

He was among three trialists to be named in Tommy McIntyre's side alongside the likes of Karamoko Dembele and Armstrong Oko-Flex.

Burt was highly-rated by former Rangers boss Mark Warburton but didn't get a look in under Steven Gerrard .

The 20-year-old's progress was hampered by injuries but he's now battling to get his career back on track.

In May, Burt posted a farewell to Rangers on his Instagram but that post has now been removed from his social media page.

He said: "Sad to be leaving Rangers at the end of this season, I would like to say thanks to all the coaches and staff who have helped me throughout my time at Rangers.

"I have made some amazing memories and very proud to have made my professional debut with Rangers.

"I have met some amazing boys throughout my time and will be friends with them for a very long time. I can't wait to start a new chapter in my life and move on."
