Lexington nonprofit expands footprint, adds child exchange and visitation services in four central K

Lexington nonprofit GreenHouse17 is expanding its role in helping victims of intimate partner violence in Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln and Mercer counties.

A partnership with Grace Fellowship Church in Danville is providing the space needed for six supervised child exchange and visitation services for parents in the area.

Darlene Thomas is GreenHouse17’s executive director. She says the area will provide a needed, safe place for victims and their children during custody hearings.

“We're kind of that immediate place where children and the visiting parent will be monitored to make sure it's safe for those children until the court makes final decisions,” Thomas said.

Thomas says these programs are among the most requested from victims in more rural counties.
