Lewis Ferguson notes Juventus and Milan interest as ambitious Scotland star reveals Champions League dream

Scotland midfielder Lewis Ferguson has revealed he wants to play in the Champions League after a queue of top Serie A clubs were linked with him.

The Bologna star has enjoyed an excellent first season in Italy after his summer move from Aberdeen and he's been linked with the likes of Juventus, AC Milan, Lazio and Napoli. His club still have a chance of making European football and Ferguson - who came on as a sub in Scotland's famous win over Spain - admits he would love to play in the Napoli. Ferguson said: "At Bologna, I am improving and growing as a player every week. The longer I stay here, the better I have become. I've read all about the rumours about a transfer and it's nice to know for my career.

"I think every player wants to play in the Champions League, I am no exception. It's not so much the team that's important, but playing at the highest level. That's my goal. I am playing for a very good manager in Thiago Motta. He brought a change of mentality, cohesion and positivity at the club, but also great physical training. We improved a lot. He is responsible for an improvement in quality. He looks a lot at tactics, but he leaves us freedom, especially up front, he doesn't cage us with specific movements, he leaves us free to move and find attacking solutions."

And Ferguson isn't surprised that Italian teams are looking closely at emerging Scottish talent, with Josh Doig also in Italy with Verona after a move last summer.

He said: "There have always been good players in Scotland. We just needed the opportunity to play on big stages to prove our worth. Our strength as Scots is our work ethic. I want to play for my country as much as possible, the more I play here the more chances I have of being called up to the national team. I dream of playing in the World Cup with Scotland."
