Lewis Capaldi giving away free tour tickets to most 'iconic' lookalikes at Greggs in London

Lewis Capaldi is giving away free tickets to his sold-out tour at various Greggs chains across the UK.

The Survive singer, 28, has asked fans to don their most “iconic” lookalike costumes and head to Greggs shops in London, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and Sheffield.

The London leg of the lookalike competition will be held at 1 Leicester Square from 6pm on Wednesday July 23.

With only 125 pairs of premium tickets available - just 25 pairs per shop - Capaldi laid out the terms of the giveaway on Instagram.

He wrote: “Get yourself down to one of five selected Greggs shops in your BEST Capaldi cosplay to be in with a chance to nab the exclusive tickets.

“Only those who truly capture Lewis’ iconic sense of fashion will be eligible to join the queue and have a chance to win...”

The accompanying video gave fans a look-back over Capaldi’s history with the British bakery chain, including showing him on work experience there and a plaque made in his honour.

A cheeky disclaimer on the Greggs website warned: “Birthday Suit Lewis looks are not permitted to enter the premises.”

The tickets are going for shows at in Glasgow, Salford, London, Birmingham and Sheffield.

The first day of the contest kicked off in Glasgow and Salford on Tuesday, with fans channelling everything from Capaldi’s white towel look to him in leopard-print and sunglasses.

On Wednesday, there will be a contest held at the Bullring Shopping Centre, Lower Mall in Birmingham at 6pm as well as in London.

The final day is taking place at Meadowhall Retail Park Drive Thru in Sheffield at 6pm on Thursday.

Capaldi made an emotional return to the spotlight last month with a surprise performance at Glastonbury - two years after having a breakdown on the same stage while struggling with Tourette syndrome and anxiety.

Following the performance, he announced a full 17-date tour across the UK and Ireland in September - which sold out in an hour.

He previously said the number of fans that signed up for the tour’s pre-sale was four times as many as he’s ever seen.

In the wake of the tickets selling out, he shared a heartfelt message with fans, admitting “seeing this tour sell out faster than any tour I’ve ever played is the most incredible surreal feeling.”

He also addressed fans who were unable to secure tickets, explaining that there are no plans to add extra shows in order to prioritise his mental health.

Capaldi stepped away from the limelight in 2023 and spent time overhauling his mental health by reducing his alcohol intake, improving his physical health, weekly therapy sessions and switching from antidepressants to anti-psychotic medication.

“Therapy has been such a massive part of my last two years, a massive part of the reason that I’m able to be a musician again,” he said earlier this month.

Discussing his anti-psychotic medication, he added: “It was really scary when they offered it.

“Anti-psychotic? I’m like, ‘I’m not psychotic.’ But it’s changed my life. My anxiety levels are so low these days. I don’t feel the stress,” he said on This Past Weekend with Theo Von.
