Levi Davis: £10,000 reward offered in search for missing rugby player and X Factor star

A £10,000 reward is being offered in the search for missing rugby star and X-Factor contestant Levi Davis.

The former Bath winger, part of singing group Try Star on X-Factor in 2019 alongside fellow rugby stars Ben Foden and Thom Evans, was last seen leaving the Old Irish Pub off Barcelona's La Rambla around 10pm on October 29 after leaving Ibiza earlier the same day.

He had travelled to Europe to take time out in the wake of an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee which had sidelined him from rugby.

The 24-year-old's family have also sought the help of private investigator called Gavin Burrows as a reward of £10,000 leading to Levi's safe discovery is offered.

It comes after the athlete's desperate mother Julie flew to Spain in a bid to help with the investigation.

She previously revealed details of her final conversation with Levi, explaining how he told her he would be moving around during his travels and did not disclose his location.

Julie said: "When I asked him where he would stay, he didn’t want to give me any address, he said he would be moving around and he was an adult.”

Confirming his apparent dire financial situation following his “sudden” departure from Ibiza without a change of clothes or his passport, she added: “Since then he hasn’t used his bank cards and he only had 40 euros on him.”

Telling respected Spanish daily ABC he suffered depression and had gone missing on previous occasions but for “no more than two or three days”, she said: “He would always come back or we would find him but it’s been 12 days now and this is not normal.

“He must be disorientated or confused.”

Police in Barcelona are understood to have confirmed Levi is not in hospital and has not been arrested as part of an “emergency” response to a missing persons report they started working on.

Officers from the regional Mossos d’Esquadra force in the Catalan capital confirmed they had decided to launch a hunt for the missing rugby player on their own initiative while they waited for official confirmation he had disappeared from friends or relatives.

A friend formally reported him missing in Barcelona before a family missing persons report filed in the UK reached them.

That same friend was Ibiza-based Richard Squire, who was with Levi until his “sudden” disappearance on October 29 and had started a GoFundMe appeal to raise money so his family could travel to Spain.

A Mossos spokesman confirmed before the meeting between Levi’s mum and investigators: “When someone is formally reported missing we have emergency procedures which include checks to see if that person could be somewhere like a hospital or in police custody.”

Unconfirmed local reports say Levi’s telephone is still off and police have not yet been able to access his password-protected social media accounts after being told by Mr Squire he could have travelled to Barcelona following contact with someone online.

The possibility he has crossed the border into France, less than two hours’ drive north of Barcelona, has not been ruled out although it was not clear on Thursday night if police there have been alerted.
