Of the many Question Time broadcasts in which Charles Kennedy took part, I recall one transmitted around the time of the Iraq war when I was in the audience, sitting directly opposite Charles, who was on the end of the panel. He was in fine form, and kept grimacing his reactions to the comments of the other panellists to me, pleased to see a friend’s face in the audience. I was shaking with laughter. Luckily, when the transmission went out, his reactions had gone unrecorded.
