Do you feel the rush? Aussie icon Troye Sivan appears to be on the verge of launching a new musical era, with a week-long trail of cryptic social posts finally revealing a title: “She’s The Best”.
The teasers began last week when Sivan directed fans to his official website alongside a video featuring the initials “STB”, a mailing list sign-up and an image of the singer in elaborate, theatrical makeup. The look, very reminiscent of Chappell Roan‘s glam, has become the campaign’s central image.
A day later, Sivan shared photographs of himself, Addison Rae and photographer Jamie Heath trying on a succession of brightly coloured wigs. “Stbbbbb,” he captioned the carousel, fuelling speculation that Rae may appear on the track, in its video or elsewhere in Sivan’s next project.
On Thursday, Sivan made the acronym’s meaning clear. A new clip shows posters bearing the same “STB” monogram, the words “She’s The Best” and portraits of Sivan being pasted across a wall. “She’s The Best!!!!!!!!” he captioned the clip.
The rollout seems to suggest “She’s The Best” may be the title of Sivan’s next single. Its imagery also appears to introduce a feminine character or alter ego, extending the playful exploration of gender seen in the video for “One of Your Girls”. Whether Rae is a collaborator or simply part of the visual world remains unknown.
There is also reason to believe “She’s The Best” could be the first taste of Sivan’s fourth studio album. He previously revealed that he was making what he called a “very albumy album”, in a post from the studio late last year. In May, he said the project marked another evolution and would likely defy expectations.
It would follow 2023’s Something to Give Each Other, which delivered “Rush”, “Got Me Started” and “One of Your Girls”, earned Sivan three Grammy nominations and won Album of the Year, Best Pop Release and Best Solo Artist at the 2024 ARIA Awards.
