Lena Dunham: I'd be so tempted to join a Celebrity Love Island reboot

Lena Dunham would be keen to appear on Celebrity Love Island if ITV rebooted the series.

Dunham, who appears on the cover of the new issue of Cosmopolitan, became a fan of the current version of the dating show while living in Wales during filming for her new TV series, Industry.

Celebrity Love Island aired from 2005 to 2006 and saw a line-up of famous faces head to an island in Fiji in search of romance. The format was later brought back as Love Island in 2015, without celebrity contestants.

The Girls co-creator, who split from singer and producer Jack Antonoff two years ago after a five year relationship, said that she would be open to meeting someone in the UK.

“If someone came up to me and they were sweet and asked me to dinner at a pub, or whatever you people do in England, I’d be like, ‘Yeah, totally,'" she explained.

“Or if they brought Celebrity Love Island back, I would be so tempted.”

The star also addressed her love of British daytime television, praising This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby as a "rad chick."

“I turn on This Morning and I just love watching her," she said. "It’s like the greatest hug from the television.

“I like that she’s funny, she’s real, and she’ll tear up if something makes her emotional, she’ll laugh really hard, and she’ll talk about getting drunk.

“She’s just a rad chick.”

Dunham also spoke about her hysterectomy and future motherhood, saying: “The freeing thing about my hysterectomy is that I know that I’m going to become a mother in a non-traditional way, whether it’s through eggs that I’ve frozen or through adoption, and so I’m not stuck in that race.

“I don’t care if I’m in a relationship. Here’s the thing: if I meet someone who I think would be great to raise children with, that’s wonderful, but I’ve compromised on too many things in my life.

“I’m not going to compromise on that. The last two years have been the best time of my life.

“I feel like it’s pretty damn hard for someone to knock me down.”
