Leixlip's Springfield Hotel sold to new owners after 49 years in business

Leixlip's iconic Springfield Hotel has been sold.

The hotel was purchased by the late Paddy Hannigan and his wife Marie in 1973 and the Hannigan family have continued to grow the business from a small 10 bedroom Hotel to what it is today over the last 49 years.

It was purchased Cliste Hospitality in partnership with Warren Private and will be taken over by the new owners at the end of April. Cliste Hospitality operate eleven hotels throughout Ireland under “The iNua Collection” brand, including The Tullamore Court Hotel, Muckross Park Hotel & Spa in Killarney and The Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel.

All existing employees will be continuing in the business. Sean O’Driscoll, of the directors of Cliste Hospitality, said: "Cliste Hospitality are looking forward to becoming part of the community in Leixlip and continuing the proud legacy of the Hannigan family.

"There is a very experienced long serving team at the hotel and that the Cliste Hospitality team are looking forward to working with them to continue to deliver great service to the many loyal customers of The Springfield Hotel”.

Mr O'Driscoll added that when Cliste hospitality take over at the end of April, it will "be very much business as usual" and all weddings, events and gift vouchers booked with the Hannigan family will be fully honoured.

In a statement, the Hannigan family have said they were delighted that the Springfield hotel has been purchased by experienced hoteliers who will continue their tradition of hospitality.

They said that the family wanted to sincerely thank all their wonderful colleagues at The Springfield for their loyalty and service over many years. They also wished to thank their many loyal customers and friends for their support
