Legends of Dragaea appears to be a very simple idle game at first glance, but jumping into its many progression menus reveals a ton of hidden mechanics and depth. Like most fantasy RPGs. the game also has you select a race to begin with, and each race has its own weaknesses and strengths. We’ll be listing the best starter races for the game, along with a recommended team composition.

This is based on early game information, and the builds represented here are subject to change.

S Tier - Best Races in Legends of Dragaea

Simply put, these are the best units in the current build of Legends of Dragaea, and can carry you through most of the game.

Race Perks Best Abilities
Purrkin
Purrkins in Dragaea
+ Really good at dodging enemy attacks and traps
+ Deals an impressive amount of damage
Triple Stab is a solid pick that has high accuracy.

Dirty Stab is also a great ability to pair with this, thanks to its debuffs.
Kitkin
Kitkins in Dragaea
+ Great DPS, deals Magic damage
+ Can double a magical ability’s power (5% chance)
Charge buffs your magical abilities by up to 30%, letting you deal more damage.

Woolkin

+ Tank/DPS hybrid that can deal a modest amount of damage while taking a beating
+ Passive Perk lets it negate damage to 1 point (10% chance)
- More tailored toward melee attacks
Hungry Chop is a good pick here, since it both deals damage and restores a portion of your HP.

A Tier - Still Great

The A Tier represents the second best option here, and includes perfectly serviceable characters.

Race Perks Best Abilties
Waykin
The Waykin class
+ Heals and adds Barrier with Hype Up
+ Can make raids have additional drops (25% chance)
- Not particularly durable
Hype Up is the best pick here, as it restores both HP and Barrier.

Impkin

+ Can inflict status debuffs on enemies, dealing damage over time
- Difficult to master
Hide lets Impkins hit faster, harder, and Crit while doing so.

B Tier - Decent Alternatives

While not terrible, these units are locked to a specific niche with barely any options for variety.

Shellkin

+ Can block attacks easily, and is a very solid tank
+ Has a ton of HP to make up for a lack of Barrier
- Strategically boring to play
Shell Up is the de facto skill for Shelkins and greatly boosts your block chances.

Consider investing in Protect as well, since it gives Barrier to party members.

Which Is the Best Race for Beginners in Legends of Dragaea?

As a beginner, your choices are very limited. Try favoring characters with high damage output, and strong resilience.

For this, the Woolkin class is the best pick. Woolkins deal an obscene amount of damage, in addition to having a very useful passive that reduces damage taken to 1 point, at a 10% chance.

When you begin progressing through the game, consider choosing one of our endgame picks below.

Best Race for Harder Difficulties in Legends of Dragaea

Harder difficulties will require much more finesse and control. You won’t be able to rely on brute force alone, and passives make a major difference in playstyles.

That being said, the current best pick is undoubtedly the Purrkin. While Purrkins appear to be very weak at first glance, it’s their abilities that change the way the game is played. This is largely thanks to their passive ability. Catlike Agility, which helps you avoid enemy attacks, letting you stay alive for longer.

Catlike Agility also helps you escape from traps, which are a common occurrence in dungeons.

Its active ability, Heightened Awareness, lets you avoid ambushes when full, and has a 25% chance to turn it into an Advantage Encounter, letting your party make the first move.

When paired with DPS focused options such as the Kitkin, they make for a fantastic team all around.

Best Early Game Team Comp in Legends of Dragaea

The best beginner team

For now, the best team comp in Legends of Dragaea: Idle Dungeons happens to be a trio of the Shellkin, Waykin and Woolkin.

Class Use Position
Shellkin Tank Front/Left
Waykin Healer End/Right
Woolkin DPS Center

Enemies tend to target the leftmost character the most, so you should always put in a tank to your left, like the Shellkin here.

The Waykin is our healer and should be kept at the end. On the other hand, while the Woolkin is a dual tank-DPS unit, and so has been shifted to the center where it can hold its own.

This trio follows the holy trifecta of Tank/Healer/DPS, and should carry you through the majority of the game. You can choose to follow more exotic builds later on if you plan to do so (such as replacing units with Purrkins and Kitkins).
