Leeds United under-23 player ratings as Summerville runs riot and Gelhardt shines before exit

Leeds United (4-2-3-1)

1 Dani van den Heuvel

Largely untested by a meek Crystal Palace display, but dug out a strong save in the second half when Sean Robertson had him at full stretch. 7

2 Harvey Sutcliffe

Battled really well and overcame some attackers with bigger frames. Ran all night. Booked. 7

4 Jeremiah Mullen

Very little danger for any of the defence to deal with, but Mullen was strong and assertive when he needed to be. 7

5 Charlie Cresswell ©

Ran the match with his leadership and voice. Again, barely had to do anything to keep Palace quiet. 7

3 Liam McCarron

Ball seemed to travel down the left flank very little which kept McCarron out of the spotlight, but he was solid throughout. 6

6 Jack Jenkins

Plugged away in his typically tireless way. Got stuck in, but could have been a little sharper onto matters in transition at times. 7

8 Nohan Kenneh

Formidable in the middle of the park. Assertive, physical, commanding and dominated the middle of the pitch. Not bad to say he had been fasting all day in line with Ramadan. 8

7 Crysencio Summerville

Virtually unplayable in this mood. Harked back to his highest levels of last autumn. Superb finishes with each foot before a long-range drive into an open net. Worked tirelessly off the ball too and helped his defence out. Just too good for this level. 9

10 Sam Greenwood

Deserves credit for putting himself in the right place at the right time to hurt Palace and help his teammates, but hard to ignore the poor misses he was guilty of. Should have had a brace. 6

11 Stuart McKinstry

Took his goal well despite a quieter night like McCarron down that left flank. 7

9 Joe Gelhardt

Played as we expected him too. He was already too good for this level before a sustained first-team breakthrough, but that exposure has boosted his confidence even more and he knows he can come into games at this level and run them with ease now. A shame he had to go off before the half was out. 8

Substitutes

12 Harry Christy

14 Archie Gray (on for Gelhardt 38min)

Caught the eye again. Easy to forget about the age gap. Didn't stop running, tackling or feeding the forwards with some delightful passes. 7

15 Mateo Joseph (on for Greenwood 64min)

Didn't really catch the eye as much as the other forwards. Looked swamped in attack at times. 6

16 Sean McGurk

17 Max Dean (on for Jenkins 75min)

Perhaps guilty of trying too hard at times as he looked to get in on the goalscoring act. Played in a slightly unconventional wide left role. More used to seeing him as the nine. 6
