Leeds United under-23 player ratings as champions dispatch poor Ipswich Town opposition

Leeds United clinched another victory in their Premier League Professional Development League Group North campaign as they beat Ipswich Town 3-0.

Clarke Oduor, Gaetano Berardi and Ryan Edmondson secured another batch of three points for Carlos Corberan’s side, who have already confirmed the group title.

Here’s how the players rated at Elland Road on Monday night.

Whites (4-1-4-1)

1 Kamil Miazek - six

Barely tested for long periods of the match. Had to be alert and commanding when he rushed off his line to block a Tyreece Simpson effort in the second half.

2 Robbie Gotts © - seven

As dogged and combative as ever, first at right-back and then in the centre of midfield during the second half. Would have wanted a goal to top off his performance, but his best effort was inches wide. Much like Jamie Shackleton, it’s becoming harder to establish whether he’s better at full-back or in midfield.

6 Bryce Hosannah - six

Played out of position on the right side of central defence, which did not allow him enough space to truly exploit his greatest asset: his speed. Steady and doubled up on the physical Simpson in attack with Leif Davis and, later, Pascal Struijk.

5 Leif Davis - six

Began at centre-back and moved out wide once Berardi was withdrawn. Did not see the kind of quality which normally catches the eye from Davis down the left, but the whole match felt like an exhibition for long spells.

3 Gaetano Berardi - seven

Scored one of his rare goals. Got some minutes in the leg, but hard to judge a great deal from less than a half on the field. Expected on the bench again at Preston North End.

4 Alfie McCalmont - seven

Pulled the strings from deep in midfield and tested the goalkeeper, who was arguably man of the match, with a decent long-range efforts. Such an accomplished passer of the ball.

7 Jordan Stevens - seven

Stood on the Ipswich left-back and played as right-sided striker almost. Tracked back with his usual high work rate too and won balls back against the odds. Delightful chipped through-ball for Oduor’s opener.

8 Adam Forshaw - seven

Steady and minutes in the legs. Not a huge influence on the match,  but he didn’t need to given the lack of quality in the opposition ranks.

10 Izzy Brown - seven

Cannot expected to still be playing for the under-23s in April, but here he is. Certainly not throwing a strop. Visibly desperate to have the ball at his feet whenever possible. Ninety minutes here may put his place in the Preston unit in doubt.

11 Clarke Oduor - seven

Took his goal very well after a sublime assist from Stevens took the defence out of the game. Stuck gainly to his task at left-wing and later at left-back.

9 Ryan Edmondson - seven

Not at his devastating best, but still scored a good goal on the night to keep his tally ticking.

Substitutes

12 Harrison Male

13 Kun Temenuzhkov

14 Jack Clarke (on for Stevens h/t) - seven

Still does not quite look the player we saw terrorising Derby County in the Championship, but building blocks after his virus at Middlesbrough. Saw a few tasty dribbles in off the right flank.

15 Pascal Struijk (on for Berardi 36min) - six

Went about his business with very little fuss.

16 Jamie Shackleton (on for Forshaw 36min) - seven

As dynamic as ever, especially from right-back in the second period. Could have had two or three assists on another night.
