Leeds United transfer rumours as Jesse Marsch eyes swoop for prolific MLS striker

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Sunday, 20 November.

Marsch eyes move for prolific striker as price tag is revealed

Leeds United could turn to FC Austin forward Sebastian Driussi in a bid to resolve their striker woes, as per TyC Sports.

With Patrick Bamford having failed to find the net in his 10 Premier League outings amid injury problems, the goalscoring burden has fallen upon Rodrigo's shoulders across the first half of the season.

Despite recording an impressive nine goals prior to the World Cup break, the Spaniard is not considered an out-and-out striker and reports suggest Jesse Marsch wants Driussi to provide much-needed attacking support.

The Argentinean scored 25 goals and provide a further six assists for his side in the previous MLS campaign, catching the attention of Leeds and Bundesliga teams in the process. Journalist Manuel Veth reports Driussi is valued at €15 million (£13 million) by Austin.

He has also proven to be a consistent goalscorer in spells with River Plate and Zenit St. Petersburg, too.

Leeds have money to 'throw at an attacker' as Brazilian is targeted

Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Leeds United have money to "throw at an attacker" and Atletico Madrid star Matheus Cunha is a player that the Whites are keen on.

Reports have emerged from Spain claiming that Diego Simeone's side are actively looking to sell players after failing to qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League and missing out on a consolation spot in the Europa League.

Atletico finished bottom of their Champions League group following a dramatic end to their European finale against Bayer Leverkusen. Subsequently, it is thought that Cunha may be someone that could depart the Spanish captial in January.

Mundo Deportivo claim that Cunha, who has made eight appearances for Brazil, is valued at €30 million (£26 million), with Manchester United also keen on the 23-year-old alongside Leeds.

Jones explained: "We know that they’re [Leeds] going to have some reasonably decent money to throw at an attacker, but I’ve seen this one being spoken about a fair bit.

"He’s a good player, but I think the key here is that Marsch really has to make sure that he gets the profiles of his attackers right.”

No surprise if Liverpool want Aaronson says Curtin

Philadelphia Union manager Jim Curtin believes it will be little surprise if Liverpool want to sign Leeds United star Brenden Aaronson.

2022 has already been a whirlwind of a year for Aaronson; playing in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages for the first time in his career, and winning the Austrian league and cup double for the second successive season.

That all came before he earned his £25m summer move to Leeds, becoming the second most expensive American footballer in history after Christian Pulisic.

The 22-year-old is currently in Qatar preparing for the World Cup, with USA set to kick off their group stage campaign with a match against Wales on Monday.

Time magazine has since gone on record to state that Aaronson has become 'the U.S.’s hottest soccer prospect for generations' since his move to Leeds.

And following the Whites' 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, Curtin has admitted that Jurgen Klopp's body language was reminiscent of someone who would be interested in signing Aaronson.

As quoted by Tom Bogert on Twitter, Curtlin said: “To watch Aaronson play against Liverpool, you could tell by Jurgen Klopp’s body language every time Brenden did anything— Look, I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s interested in that kid after how he played against him.”
