Leeds United transfer rumours as Bamba Dieng handed lifeline following deadline day exploits

Here is your Leeds United gossip roundup on Saturday, September 17.

Failed Leeds United transfer finally settles back into Ligue 1 squad

Bamba Dieng's move to Leeds United on transfer deadline day, despite owner Andrea Radrizzani saying publicly he was set for the Whites, failed in the final hours and now he's finally been let back into the Olympique Marseille squad by manager Igor Tudor.

The Senegalese forward had agreed a move to Elland Road for £9m but decided to change his mind when a last-minute offer from OGC Nice came in.

However, after failing his medical with the French club, he was forced to stay at Marseille and is yet to play for them this season after the situation.

According to FootMercato, Tudor said: “If I have to use a word to describe it, it was a complicated summer for him, but he’s someone who’s really formidable, very kind. He’s training and is now a part of the group.”

After the deal had failed, Radrizzani took to Twitter to claim Leeds had been "screwed up" but that it "happens even to the best ones."

Club 'seriously considering' sacking technical director after Leeds transfer interest

PSV Eindhoven are reportedly considering sacking their technical director John de Jong after he was interested in selling star winger Cody Gakpo in the summer transfer window, with Leeds as one of the potential buyers.

According to Dutch website Soccer Niuews, De Jong's position is no longer safe and could be gone to bring in PSV's 'dream successor' Frank Arnesen who left fellow Eredivisie club Feyenoord last week.

PSV's sporting progress is reportedly 'stagnating' with De Jong in charge which is being attributed to the technical director who is 'surprised at the speed' of the decision to sack him.

If Arnesen does land the job at PSV, he'll have a wealth of experience to draw on, with the Dane having been the technical director at the club from 1994 to 2004, where he then joined Tottenham before leaving for Chelsea where he stayed until 2010.

If De Jong keeps his job however, Leeds will find landing Gakpo in January much easier - something Andrea Radrizzani has stated the club will try and achieve.

Leeds United dodge bullet as AC Milan's Divock Origi named Serie A's 'worst signing of the season'

Leeds United look to have dodged a bullet this summer by not signing striker Divock Origi, who has recently been labelled as Serie A's 'worst signing of the summer'.

The Whites were linked with the former Liverpool striker who left Anfield on a free this summer. Origi was just one of a host of names linked with a move to Elland Road, but ultimately chose to join Serie A champions AC Milan.

However, the Belgian's move to Milan looks to have been a disaster so far.
