Leeds United transfer odds as Whites face competition over two January targets

Leeds United will soon be switching their focus to strengthening their squad when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Whites added seven summer recruits during the previous window, including Rasmus Kristensen, Tyler Adams, Marc Roca and Brenden Aaronson, all of whom have gone onto become first team regulars.

They also lost key players in the shape of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively, while Daniel James headed out on loan to Fulham on deadline day.

Although Leeds won't be anticipating such a busy January transfer window, supporters will be keen for Jesse Marsch to add to his squad. A new left-back and a centre-forward are the two positions in most desperate need of investment, and Leeds are among a number of clubs on the bookmakers' list of favourites for two attackers, according to Sky Bet.

Leeds attempted to sign Cody Gakpo on transfer deadline day, although Victor Orta subsequently returned from negotiations in Eindhoven empty handed.

The Dutch international, who has shone at the World Cup with three goals in as many games, was subject to interest from Manchester United throughout the summer.

However, Gakpo was presented the opportunity to join Leeds or Southampton, with the former reportedly prepared to break their club transfer record to prise him to the Premier League.

Gakpo eventually ended up staying put in Eindhoven and has attracted further interest after registering 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 matches across all competitions for PSV this term.

Despite Leeds' failure to land Gakpo back in the summer, the Whites are currently 9/1 to sign him in January, behind only Manchester United (2/1) and Newcastle United (7/1).

Another player who is expected to be making a move in the winter is Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic. The United States international has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and has made just three starts in the Premier League this season. Newcastle are leading favourites to sign Pulisic, while Leeds are available at 20/1.
