Leeds United team news as Patrick Bamford misses Brentford clash after positive Covid-19 test

Patrick Bamford will play no part in today’s do or die Premier League clash against Brentford, with boss Jesse Marsch confirming that he has tested positive for covid-19.

"With Patrick he was fit and ready to go and then two days ago he tested positive for Covid and he's been really really sick and not been able to get out of bed," the Whites boss said before the relegation decider.

"So it's obviously unfortunate for him and for us. He wasn't even in position to travel, but bringing him wouldn't have been safe with him testing positive."

As such, Marsch has made just one change to his Leeds United starting line-up with Sam Greenwood stepping into the side. Greenwood has featured regularly under Marsch and he’ll be hoping to impress on what is undoubtedly the biggest game of his fledging career so far.

"Sam Greenwood has been great," Marsch added. "I think he's ready for this moment. I don't think anyone in the team is surprised that that decision has been made and we expect him to be ready to go."

The youngster’s introduction means Mateusz Klich drops to the bench once more. Klich will be joined on the bench by Tyler Roberts, who ruptured his hamstring in the defeat to Leicester City back in March.

Marsch also explained the Wales international's surprise inclusion: "Tyler Roberts with that situation it's probably a bit early to be thinking about exactly if he's 100 per cent fit, but we had a long talk with the medical staff, Tyler feels really good and if we need him in an emergency situation a the end of the match, then he's available."

He’ll be keen to make an impact should he emerge as a substitute as the Whites battle for their lives in the top flight. It’s no surprise to see Joe Gelhardt keep his spot in the side, while Rodrigo will be keen to shine after struggling for form of late.

Leeds: Illan Meslier; Robin Koch, Liam Cooper, Diego Llorente, Junior Firpo, Raphinha, Kalvin Phillips, Sam Greenwood, Jack Harrison, Rodrigo, Joe Gelhardt

Bench: Kristoffer Klaesson, Leo Hjelde, Lewis Bate, Tyler Roberts, Pascal Struijk; Mateusz Klich, Charlie Cresswell, Jamie Shackleton, Archie Gray
