Leeds United suffer second postponement in a week as Storm Eunice harms Man United preparation

Leeds United's youngsters have been dealt another blow this week as their Friday afternoon Premier League 2 fixture versus Brighton and Hove Albion has been postponed.

High winds on the south coast have caused today's U23 fixture to be called off, just days after a waterlogged pitch put paid to the young Whites' Premier League Cup fixture away to Mansfield Town.

This is the second time in a week that Leeds' development side have had a match called off at short notice due to adverse weather conditions.

Winds of up to 75 miles per hour have been recorded on the south coast by the Met Office.

Brighton and Hove Albion have confirmed via their official website that today's fixture has been called off.

The team travelled down to Brighton yesterday evening but will now be required to head north once again as it is expected a number of those players included in the U23 squad will be named on the first-team bench this Sunday.

Leeds' PL2 fixture would have provided ample opportunity for U23 players in the squad still getting back to full fitness to gain valuable minutes.

However, that is now not possible and a rescheduled date for the game will need to be found in due course.

Those who will be named in Marcelo Bielsa's 20-man squad to face Manchester United this Sunday, who have travelled to Brighton this week, will have subsequently missed an additional day's training as a result of the cancellation.

Meanwhile, Leeds' PL Cup tie with Mansfield is expected to receive a new date next week, meaning it will not be long until the U23s are back in action.
