Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Tuesday, January 31.

Victor Orta shares thoughts on Weston McKennie deal

Leeds United confirmed the signing of Weston McKennie on Monday night. The Juventus midfielder joins the club on an initial loan deal with an option to make the transfer permanent.

Orta was thrilled to have got the deal over the line as the club's director of football opened up on what the 24-year-old will bring to the team.

“I am really happy, I think it is a good addition for Leeds United,” Orta told club media. "He is a player who is at international level, which is really helpful for the squad and someone who will strengthen us.

“Weston is a versatile player who will be able to adapt quickly, helped by his knowledge of the other players in the team. I think it gives Jesse Marsch balance in his team and more options, with a player who can grow within the transition of English football.

“We hope he can adapt quickly with the rhythm here after playing in Italy. To have Weston on loan with an option to buy is a really good situation for Leeds United.”

Leeds United best and worst case transfer deadline day

Transfer deadline day is here and for fans of Premier League clubs it looks set to be a busy one. The stakes are high and a heap of teams will be looking to do business today in order to give themselves the best chance of achieving their goals.

Leeds United are no different and we’re expecting comings and goings at Elland Road before the 11pm deadline this evening. It’s already been a busy one for the Whites, with Max Wober and club record signing Georginio Rutter arriving at the club, while Mateusz Klich and Max Dean have left on a permanent deals.

Loans have been found for Joe Gelhardt, Leo Hjelde, Alfie McCalmont and Cody Drameh, too, as the quartet look to continue their development away from Leeds. The addition of Weston McKennie has now been confirmed with his loan switch from Juventus completed last night.

Inside Weston McKennie's move to Leeds United

Doubts had filled Weston McKennie’s mind about his transfer to Leeds United as he waited by the phone, packing and unpacking his bags in Italy. It was roughly two days after Georginio Rutter’s transfer was confirmed McKennie first heard Victor Orta wanted him at Elland Road.

For the past fortnight, the 24-year-old has been waiting for Leeds and Juventus to thrash out the details on a package which could ultimately cost more than £35m if every bonus is triggered across loan and permanent deals. Initially, the Whites will pay a little over £1m to take McKennie on loan with add-ons up to £220,000 possible between now and the end of the season.

All parties seem confident the move will be made permanent in the summer and that will set Leeds back a fee fractionally over £30m across five years. Performance add-ons could then be triggered up to just shy of £4m.
