Leeds United news as transfer battle with AC Milan heats up for two targets

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Saturday, July 24.

AC Milan battling with Leeds for different winger target

It is not just Charles De Ketelaere that Leeds are battling the Serie A champions for in this summer window, with Milan stepping up their interest in Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech, who has reportedly also been on Jesse Marsch’s radar in this window.

According to CalcioMercato , the Italian champions are hopeful of signing Ziyech after reviving talks with the Moroccon attacker just days after Milan reportedly agreed a £30m deal to sign De Ketelaere, a player Leeds have been chasing for weeks and at one point looked very close to bringing to Elland Road.

After signing Luis Sinisterra, Marsch is looking for a second winger to replace Raphinha but will face an uphill battle to capture Ziyech.

Leeds can financially compete with AC Milan for De Ketelaere

Leeds United remain hopeful that they can sign De Ketelaere despite AC Milan’s insistence that they are closing in on a deal. The Whites reportedly tabled a €40million bid weeks ago and are now waiting in the hope that the Italian giants cannot match it, while Paolo Maldini’s numerous trips to Belgium are yet to finalise anything.

The Milan sporting director has exuded confidence when speaking to the media of his negotiations, but his side are yet to meet Leeds or Club Brugge's valuation of the Belgian amid speculation they may pull the plug. Victor Orta and Leeds have good reason to keep the door ajar for the 21-year-old, having seen Newcastle United price out the Serie A champions in their battle for Dutch centre-back Sven Botman.

Ex-Leeds goalkeeper Robinson gives Harrison verdict

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson says it's important the Whites don't 'undersell' Jack Harrison, with the winger the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are looking to add a winger to their squad, and Harrison has been heavily linked, with Eddie Howe a fan of the player's versatility.

Some outlets have reported that Newcastle submitted a bid for Harrison this week - but the approach was immediately rejected by Leeds. The Whites value Harrison at £35 million, and reports suggest that Newcastle's bid was in the region of £18 million.
