Leeds United news as Stan Collymore makes big Whites prediction

Here are your morning Leeds United headlines on Sunday, October 23.

Former Premier League and Fulham forward predicts big Leeds United win

Former Premier League and Fulham forward Stan Collymore has predicted a big win for Leeds United with them to show their 'fortitude' over his former side. Collymore played for the Cottagers nine times in the 1999/00 season, scoring once, with his old team enjoying a surprisingly strong start to their return to the English top-flight.

While Jesse Marsch's Whites enjoyed their own good start, their recent form has seen them fall down to 16th after taking just one point from their last five matches.

Writing in his column for The Sunday People, Collymore however predicted a huge win for Marsch's side who are desperate for three points as they continue to slide down the league table.

Collymore wrote: "Leeds to finally get off the mark and show fortitude after Fulham take the lead. Leeds 3-1 Fulham.”

The 51-year-old clearly believes that while Leeds are fallible at the back, they'll have a stronger showing going forward than in recent weeks after only scoring once in their last four games.

Former Leeds United video analyst opens up on 14 and a half hour days under Marcelo Bielsa

Marcelo Bielsa is renowned for the importance he places on video analysis as a manager. At Leeds United, it was no different, with members of the squad often heard discussing how the level of detail he goes into is something they had never experienced before.

One of the people in the background at Leeds during Bielsa’s time at Elland Road was Anthony Fulconis. Fulconis was tasked with providing Bielsa with video analysis of the opposition, something which the Argentine would spend hours then relaying to the players.

So with that in mind, you can only imagine the amount of time the likes of Fulconis will have spent ensuring his work was up to Bielsa’s standard. In an interview with L’Est Éclair, Fulconis does exactly that – detailing exactly what it was like working under the former Leeds boss, and the extent of some of his 14 and a half hour plus days.

Rio Ferdinand on the Leeds United downfall and leaving for Manchester United

Former Leeds United defender Rio Ferdinand insists he was quite happy at Elland Road after the club reached the Champions League semi-final. The Whites were one of the brightest teams in the country at the time, but nobody could quite believe what was on the horizon.

Leeds were plunged into turmoil, selling a number of their best players in order to keep afloat, Ferdinand being one of them. Speaking to the Joe Cole Cast, Ferdinand said: "Not in that season, we didn't know but my agent at the time was a super agent and he was in the know. He knew people behind the scenes at all the clubs and knew what was going on.

"After the season finished he started talking to me and saying there was clubs interested but I was quite happy. He said the club wasn't in a good place and then when he said the club need to sell you, it's not like they want to sell you, they don't really want to sell you but if they don't sell you then they have to sell ten.
