Here are the Leeds United morning headlines for Sunday, August 30.
Whelan on Rodrigo arrival
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan has said it is not a formality that new signing Rodrigo Moreno adapts to the Premier League.
Leeds broke their transfer record to land the Spain international from Valencia but Whelan claims the transfer fee alone is not in itself a guarantee of success.
Whelan told Football Insider: “I think the most important part of him knowing about the Premier League now is that he’s more mature – he’s 29-years-old, he’s established himself in Spain, been a very good player and watched by Real Madrid as well.
“On that front, he’s developed and you would expect that anyway from a player who at a young age was in the Premier League and you learn a lot about yourself, how to play your game and master it.
“He’s done that over in Spain and it is going to be a difficult transition because it is the hardest league in the world, we keep saying it but it’s true.
“For £27million, potentially rising to £30million, time will tell and we’ll see whether that’s a good signing but right now, it looks exciting, everyone’s excited about the prospect of him putting a Leeds United shirt on.”
Klich key to Koch deal
Leeds have confirmed the signing of the Germany international defender Robin Koch - and Mateusz Klich played a key role in the move.
The two players previously played alongside each other at German club Kaiserslautern and Koch has now revealed the Pole helped persuade him to join Elland Road.
"Most of the time I talked to him and asked him how is Leeds, how is the coach, how is training," Koch said.
"I asked him nearly everything and he answered every question. He said it's a very special club and the coach is really good. Everyone said this before, all good about the coach and the club. But I wanted to hear from a player who was here and Mateusz said the same so I had good information directly from a player in Leeds so it was perfect for me."
Leeds eye Martinez - report
Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has reportedly emerged as a summer transfer target for Leeds.
The Argentine is said to be seeking a new club this summer with Elland Road a possible destination according to the Daily Mail, via Sports Mole.
Martinez replaced the injured Bernd Leno in the run-in to last season for Arsenal and also featured in Saturday’s Community Shield win over Liverpool, but is said to be on the move.
