Leeds United morning headlines as Marcelo Bielsa draws up transfer shortlist, midfielder talks

Here are the Leeds United morning headlines for Monday, August 10.

Leeds ‘want five signings’ for Premier League return

Marcelo Bielsa is eyeing up new additions to his Leeds United squad, with the Whites reportedly aiming to make five signings for their return to the Premier League.

Almost as soon as the Elland Road club secured promotion from the Championship, thoughts turned to who they could target to strengthen their squad and a number of players in key areas are being targeted.

The Daily Mail claims Bielsa has drawn up a shortlist of summer targets and wants up to five new players through the door before the start of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

On Bielsa’s list is believed to be Slavia Prague forward Nicolae Stanciu, with Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher also reportedly targeted by the Championship winners.

Roma midfielder set for talks over potential Leeds move - report

Representatives of Amadou Diawara will reportedly fly to England this week for talks over a potential move to Leeds this summer.

Italian outlet Il Messaggero claims Roma are willing to sell the 23-year-old in order to raise some funds for their own transfers and Leeds are leading the pursuit for the player.

However, it’s not believed Leeds have made a concrete offer for the player, with Diawara’s agents pushing their client as they explore whether a move to the Premier League might be a possibility.

Diawara made 22 Serie A appearances for Roma this season and would bring some real presence to the centre of Leeds’ midfield.

Bielsa’s former assistant interested in Leeds goalkeeper

New Huddersfield Town manager and former Leeds assistant Carlos Corberan wants to take out-of-favour goalkeeper Kamil Miazek to the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Sun On Sunday claims Corberan wants Miazek to make the move to Huddersfield as he attempts to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2020/21 English Championship season.

Jonas Lossl’s loan deal at Huddersfield from Everton came to an end at the end of last season and so the Terriers are widely expected to sign a new goalkeeper over the next few weeks.

Miazek joined Leeds in January 2018, but has yet to make a single senior appearance for the club.
