Leeds United morning headlines as Danny Rose transfer claim made

Here the Leeds United morning headlines for Friday April 24.

Rose transfer claim

Danny Rose would turn down a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain if it meant he could return to Leeds United instead.

That’s according to Alex Bruce.

Rose spent his youth career at Elland Road before his £1 million move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The England international is currently on loan at Newcastle United, and Bruce told Football Insider: “I think one of the main reasons Danny Rose wanted to head back up to Newcastle was to be closer to his family in Leeds.

“I think it would kind of defeat the object him moving over to Paris, wouldn’t it? We’ll have to watch this space with that one.”

Skipper’s recovery

Former captain Dominic Matteo has announced that his latest scan was all clear following treatment for a brain tumour.

He was taken ill in November last year and had surgery before being admitted to intensive care at Leeds General Infirmary.

But he has now revealed on social media that he has good news from his most recent check-up, tweeting : “Yesterday I got THE phone call, the one I’ve been praying for... my brain scan is clear.”

Matteo also expressed his gratitude to NHS staff for their care, adding: “They were simply incredible. Thank you will never be enough!”

Hunter acclaim

Leeds’ decision to name a stand after the late and legendary Norman Hunter is a fitting tribute to his career, according to Alex Bruce.

Bruce spent two years at Elland Road – and says that Hunter remained a hugely respected figure even decades after his retirement.

“Speaking from when I was at Leeds, he was a really respected, good man who everyone spoke very highly of,” he said to Football Insider.

“It doesn’t surprise me that Leeds have done the right thing in naming one of the stands after him because he was such a big figure at Elland Road. He’ll be sadly missed.”
