Leeds United legend hospitalised in unprovoked city centre attack

Leeds United's title winning midfielder and former manager Gary McAllister was punched in an unprovoked attack in the city centre on Saturday night.

According to The Sun , McAllister's face was in "a mess" and he needed hospital treatment after the unprovoked street attack in Leeds.

His wife Hayley tried to pull the thug from her husband, and the former Leeds midfielder is said to have needed "10 to 12 stitches" in his top lip following the attack.

Apparently he had to stay in hospital from 3am until midday.

McAllister had spent the day watching Liverpool legends take on AC Milan at Anfield, and it is believed he and his wife were heading back to their home in Tadcaster after a meal in Leeds.

As per The Sun, a source said: “Gary is extremely shaken up.

"It was totally unprovoked by just one bloke — it’s crazy. It beggars belief.

“Nothing like this has ever happened to him — it’s a real shame.”

According to reports McAllister did not to comment in detail when asked about the alleged incident but said: "It's in the hands of the police".

Former midfielder McAllister is currently working as an assistant to Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
