Illan Meslier has a fortnight left to break a 14-year-old Premier League record.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper may have had an afternoon to forget against Arsenal on Sunday, when a number of errors contributed to Leeds United's 4-2 defeat at the Emirates Stadium, but one thing he has shown this term is his ability to bounce back from any setbacks.
Meslier kept a seventh clean sheet of the season in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace earlier this month, which came after Sheffield United, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Everton, Burnley and West Bromwich Albion all failed to find a way past Leeds' number one.
Given Leeds' attacking and risk-taking philosophy, that is no mean feat and puts him on the brink of breaking a record set by Joe Hart more than a decade ago.
Former England stopper Hart achieved seven clean sheets in the 2007-08 campaign, which was the record for a goalkeeper before their 21st birthday, as per Twitter's @LUFCDATA.
Meslier will blow out the candles on his 21st birthday cake on March 2, which gives him four attempts to break Hart's mark, with Leeds facing Wolves on Friday night, followed by Southampton on Tuesday and Aston Villa on Saturday, February 23. He has kept a clean sheet just over every three matches (seven clean sheets from 22 appearances) and if he can earn one more shutout in his next three, he will move past Hart.
His passing accuracy for the season sits at 81.4 per cent which, again in the context of the instructions he is given by Bielsa, is another indicator of how important he is to Leeds United and how well he has established himself as one of the best young goalkeepers in the Premier League.
Next up for Meslier and Leeds is a Sunday afternoon trip to Arsenal, who they held to a goalless draw in November.
