Here are the latest headlines for Leeds United on Wednesday, May 27.
Everton decision could hand Leeds transfer boost
Everton are set to release striker and Leeds target Oumar Niasse at the end of the season, according to reports.
Niasse, 30, joined Everton from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2016 but has failed to establish himself at Goodison Park. Out-of-contract in the summer, Football Insider, claims the striker will be released next month after being offered to Leeds United.
The striker has played just five times for the Toffees this season and has previously enjoyed loan spells at Hull and Cardiff.
Meanwhile, Leeds are said to be considering their striking options as they prepare for a delicate next few months.
The club are on course for promotion to the Premier League, which makes planning for next season complicated.
Manchester City star admits ‘falling in love’ with Bielsa
Benjamin Mendy has revealed he adores the tactics of Marcelo Bielsa, and also explained why he sees similarities with current boss Pep Guardiola.
Mendy, 25, spent time with Bielsa at Marseille and praised the tactician’s role in helping him develop as a young player.
Mendy told Sky Sports: “Bielsa was amazing, he helped me a lot. Still, today, we keep talking.
“I watched him, and I was in love with the tactics.”
The French international also opened up on the stylistic comparisons between Bielsa and Guardiola, admitting he sees similarities.
“I think they are similar,” he said. “They like to have the ball, and when we lose the ball to do high pressing.”
Che Adams’ future unclear as transfer clause emerges
It’s not unfair to suggest that Che Adams' move to Southampton hasn’t worked out as intended.
Adams, 23, joined the Saints last summer from Birmingham City and it was hoped he could translate his scintillating Championship form into the Premier League. Unfortunately, he is still waiting for his first Saints goal, with rumours about his future persisting.
Now it has been revealed that Birmingham have a 10% sell-on clause for the striker, according to Birmingham Live. That means any deal with Leeds could see Birmingham net a seven-figure sum, which given their financial issues, could be a well-timed boost.
