Leeds United digest: Cooper knock, under-23 ratings, Jansson's Bielsa headaches

Last night Leeds United's under-23s played out a 1-1 draw with Burnley at Elland Road. In what was a fair result there were also minutes for Liam Cooper and Jamie Shackleton as they return from injury.

Elsewhere, Pontus Jansson has been typically forthright with his opinions off the field.

Here's a look at the latest Leeds United stories.

Leeds United under-23s highlights: Cooper takes a knock in 1-1 Burnley draw

Liam Cooper was limping heavily before he was substituted for Leeds United’s under-23s on Monday night, prompting fears he may face another spell on the sidelines.

However, as the club captain made his way to the tunnel at half-time with the rest of the players he appeared to be moving much more freely.

Cooper was one of three players removed at the break by Carlos Corberan in what was almost certainly a pre-planned move by the coach staff.

Jamie Shackleton and Jack Clarke, two other starters set to feature in Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team squad on Saturday, were also taken off.

'He gave me a lot of headaches' Jansson on life under Bielsa

Former Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has opened up on how working under Marcelo Bielsa last season gave him a "headache" - but praised the impact the experienced boss has had on him.

Jansson left the West Yorkshire club during the summer, joining Brentford for a fee of £5.5m, with rumours of a rift between Jansson and Bielsa surfacing not long after pre-season commenced at Thorp Arch.

The Swede was one of the Whites' standout star's last season, being named the club's best player by his manager, and although there was believed to be interest from Premier League clubs, Jansson instead opted for the Bees.
