Leeds schoolboy, 12, dies suddenly at home as school issues statement

A schoolboy from Leeds has sadly died while at home this week.

The 12-year-old was in his family home when he died suddenly. The youngster was a pupil at Allerton High School in King Lane.

Witnesses report staff members were seen crying in the corridors of the Alwoodley school - where the Year Seven student walked every day - after hearing about his death.

A spokesperson for Allerton High School confirmed they were told the student had died, but "haven't heard anything else" since then. They issued a brief statement on behalf of the school and said: "All we can confirm at the moment is that a young student, a year seven student, has died."

A Leeds City Council spokesperson added: "The death of the boy is extremely sad and we offer our sincere condolences to his family, friends and everyone else who knew him.

"We are working closely with the school to ensure staff and pupils are supported through this difficult time."

An inquest is set to be opened into his death.
