Leeds records highest number of coronavirus cases in Yorkshire in past 24 hours

Leeds has recorded the highest number of new coronavirus cases in Yorkshire in the past 24 hours.

In total 494 cases were reported across the region bringing the total number of people to test positive for the virus in Yorkshire since the pandemic began to 42,994.

Leeds had the highest rise with another 115 cases for the city. Bradford was a close second with a further 93 cases reported.

Kirklees was also high on the list with 57 cases and Sheffield with 54.

It comes as Boris Johnson announced a tightening of coronavirus restrictions in the House of Commons today.

Pubs, bars and restaurants will now all have a strict 10pm curfew and retail staff will also be made to wear masks.

Pilot spectator sporting events have also been put on hold and weddings limited to 15 guests.

  • Leeds - was 6,274 now 6,389 (+115)

  • Wakefield - was 2,450 now 2,469 (+19)

  • North Yorkshire - was 3,301 now 3,331 (+30)

  • Sheffield - was 5,468 now 5,522 (+54)

  • Barnsley - was 2,338 now 2,354 (+16)

  • Bradford - was 7,831 now 7,924 (+93)

  • Calderdale - was 1,511 now 1,539 (+28)

  • Rotherham - was 2,475 now 2,496 (+21)

  • Kirklees - was 3,858 now 3,915 (+57)

  • York - was 1,135 now 1,147 (+12)

  • Doncaster - was 2,292 now 2,314 (+22)

  • East Yorkshire - was 1,871 now 1,888(+17)

  • Hull - was 1,696 now 1,706 (+10)
