Leeds Lidl open as normal after substance thrown over woman and baby

The Lidl store in Gipton has re-opened as normal after a substance was thrown over a woman and a baby on Saturday evening (29/06).

A heavy emergency services presence could be seen at the Lidl store on Saturday evening, yet the store re-opened as normal on Sunday morning (30/06).

Police were called to the store on Oak Tree Walk at 19:16 on Saturday amid reports of a fight in the car park.

Reportedly males in the car park threw a liquid substance over the woman and baby, with both the woman and child having to go to hospital.

A huge cordon was put in place with a heavy presence from the fire, ambulance and police services. The scene was washed down by a police team.

Emergency services determined that the liquid was not corrosive, and may have been anti-freeze.

The woman and baby were treated for minor injuries at the hospital, and a police investigation is now underway.
