Lee Johnson outlines quiet Hibs transfer plans after failing 'miserably' in St Mirren defeat

Lee Johnson says his focus is on getting injured players back rather than signing new players for his Hibs squad.

Goalkeeper Kevin Dabrowski and defender Rocky Bushiri were both ruled out for at least two months prior to Saturday's 1-0 Premiership loss at St Mirren. Keanu Baccus' goal in the first half was the difference as Hibs turned in a disappointing performance in Paisley.

Kevin Nisbet, Kyle Magennis and Aiden McGeady are also out with injury amongst others, and with the transfer window closing on September 1st, Johnson says they need injured bodies back rather than new ones.

He said: "We’re not going to be able to move much in the market so we’ve got to get injured players back fit. We’ve got to nurture the ones coming back to full fitness. But it will turn because we’re good at what we do and we’ll improve by nurturing and developing.”

Johnson wasn't happy with the Saints outing as things like Lewis Miller not being ready to come on as a sub showed the development his new-look team still have to do.

He said: “This was an opportunity for three points and we failed miserably. So I’m disappointed for ourselves and disappointed for our supporters.

“I know what’s got to be done. There is no question in my mind what we need to do, how we need to do it. We wanted to get Lewis Miller on and he’s not got his shinpads on, boots tied up or shirt on.

"He is 6ft 2in and a powerhouse. I’m not talking bad of him, it’s just naivety. They’ve got to learn their lessons quickly because things change quickly in games.”
