LeBron James Jr.’s AAU following chronicled by New York Times

This may have been a relatively quiet time in the world of LeBron James, but even the quiet days are pretty big by the standards of most people, as his relatively quiet newsday included a profile about his oldest son’s youth basketball career in the New York Times.

The young career of Bronny James Jr., and the following that has come with it across the country on his AAU circuit, was the subject of a story by Billy Witz that was published on Tuesday. The story includes some scene-setting about what it’s like to try and get a seat at one of Bronny Jr.’s AAU games, as well as interesting interviews from people in the grassroots basketball world putting it into perspective.

The phenomenon of LeBron Jr’s traveling team was a focus of last summer as crowds filled in gyms across the nation to watch he and the North Coast Blue Chips play. That curiosity has grown so much that it’s even taking up column inches in the country’s paper of record.
