LeBron James' incredible career accomplishments after breaking all-time points record

LeBron James created history once again on Tuesday night as he broke the NBA's all-time scoring record, which had been standing for almost 40 years.

The Los Angeles Lakers star broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record - who was in attendance to see James accomplish the feat - of scoring 38,387 points across his 20-year career - getting there quicker than Jabbar by 160 games.

James needed 36 points, but got 38 after he hit a fadeaway jumpshot to break the record, which saw the game halted for a number of minutes with 'The King' being congratulated by his family, friends and a number of NBA legends in attendance.

Breaking this record will only further enhance his argument of being the greatest to ever do it, as he and one other man standalone atop of that conversation.

That man, who James has been compared to for over 20 years, is Michael Jordan. Both players, who have worn the jersey number 23 for the majority of their career, and had dominant spells across their storied careers.

And while it seems unlikely that James will ever reach Jordan's number of NBA championships (six), the 38-year-old continues to shatter other records - and he still looks like he could play for a number of years yet.

In one clip heard in Tuesday nights game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, James was heard talking to his two sons on how many points he needed, before stating that he'll 'go ahead and get it'.

James has already stated that he wants to play with his oldest son, Bronny James Jr, who is expected to enter the NBA in 2024 as a first-round draft prospect.

This, meaning James has at least two years after this season, which could see him break further records. Here though, is a list of all the accomplishments he has to date.

LeBron James' career accomplishments

  • 4x NBA Champion
  • 4x Finals MVP
  • 4x Regular season MVP
  • 9x All-Star
  • 3x All-Star MVP
  • 1x Rookie of the Year
  • 18x All-NBA
  • 6x All-Defensive
  • No. 1 All-Time Scoring leader
  • No. 4 All-Time Assists leader

After breaking the record and with the game paused, James was able to address those in attendance and watching on their screens. He said: "I thank you guys so much for allowing me to be a part of something I've always dreamed about. I would never in a million years dreamt this to be even better than what it is tonight."

James rival, Steph Curry, tweeted: "Congrats @KingJames…legendary stuff right there. #38388."
