LeBron James comes in at No. 3 on ESPN’s NBARank

In addition to acquiring a superstar teammate in Anthony Davis, the offseason for LeBron James has been rich with motivational tools. And while it’s already well-known how motivated LeBron is after missing the playoffs for the first time since 2006, James got another bit of motivation on the eve of Media Day for his Los Angeles Lakers.

Just like the Sports Illustrated Top 100 rankings, LeBron didn’t clock in at the top of the list for the first time in the history of ESPN’s NBARank. ESPN’s team of NBA writers provided a reflection on where LeBron is in his career. While there are still plenty who believe he’s the best player in the game, missing the postseason didn’t give him the opportunity to prove it on the game’s biggest stage.

Should LeBron and the Lakers get back to the postseason, James will once again have the chance to assert his dominance as he did during the 2018 Playoffs.
