Leaving Certificate 2022: When are results out and everything you need to know

Leaving Cert results will be announced in September, Irish education officials have confirmed.

Students will receive their Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied examination results on Friday, September 2 this year, the State Examinations Commission (SEC) has said. The SEC announced the exam timetable in February but no date was given for the results until now.

Over 130,000 pupils are taking the Leaving Cert this year, which is 7,000 more than in 2019 - the last time a full set of examinations was run. The SEC said that there were a number of "significant factors which have made providing a date for the issue of the Leaving Certificate results challenging".

These factors included the shortage of examiners to mark written examinations, allowing candidates who deferred or were unable to sit their exams due to certain factors to take their exams, and allowing for an extensive range of checks to ensure the papers are graded correctly. The exams are set to end on June 28 with the last papers being Japanese, Politics & Society, Arabic, and Physical Education.

This will be the first year since 2019 that students will not have the chance to receive predicted grades. Candidates can get through results through the Candidate Self Service Portal available at www.examinations.ie and on www.gov.ie/leavingcertificate.
