Leandro Trossard explains secret behind seamless Arsenal transition after three Fulham assists

Leandro Trossard performed to a level that most who follow Arsenal were dreaming the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk might have shown had he made the move to north London in January. The truth is the Gunners found a gem who can provide an immediate impact at the club with his Premier League experience.

The three assists against Fulham showcased the varying benefits the Belgian has added including his set pieces which of course aided the opening goal. Gabriel Magalhaes leapt to reach the corner provided by the former Brighton man.

His other two assists came from open play but it was the movement that truly caught the eye. In particular, his interchanging play with Gabriel Martinelli was something which has now brought goals at Craven Cottage and the King Power Stadium.

Both his assists for Martinelli and Martin Odegaard came from the left when he’d drifted and confused the Cottagers. His familiarity with his fellow teammates has grown so quickly over these past couple of months it is quite special.

Speaking with football.london after his hat-trick of assists, the 28-year-old explained the process behind his assimilation into the group. It was evident the togetherness of the squad had played a critical role.

“To be honest, they have made it easy for me. It’s such a good group," he said. "They let me feel welcome on the first day and it felt directly like home. Then it is so much easier for a new player to adapt to a new team.

“The manager also helped me a lot. I am a tactical player and they are all so good on the ball as well, so it’s easier to adapt. I am feeling great now.”

It has been very clear the relationship between Trossard and his new teammates is already very strong. It’s impressive for a new signing but even more so for the versatile forward who arrived at the mid-point of the campaign.

Whilst Mikel Arteta admitted it’s a great problem to have regarding deciding how and when to reintegrate Gabriel Jesus, the fact is Trossard is surely undroppable at the moment considering his form. Having him back in the team only a week after his worrying exit against Bournemouth made it seem as though his Brazilian teammate would walk back in but now we’re not so sure.
