The October 2025 PS Plus Extra game is reportedly the Silent Hill 2 remake, released on Oct. 8, 2024, on PlayStation and Steam. The report comes from reliable leaker billbil-kun from Dealabs, who claims Silent Hill 2 will be available for Extra and Deluxe subscribers on Oct. 21.
The one-year console exclusivity period for Silent Hill 2 is about to expire, which is likely one of the reasons why Sony is adding the game to PS Plus Extra. It's unclear whether the game will be announced for Xbox or the Nintendo Switch 2 anytime soon, but this potential move by Sony shows the company is trying to capitalize further on the title before it has to start competing with other consoles.
The timing of this potential announcement is also really convenient for Sony. Silent Hill f was released two weeks ago to a great Metacritic score of 86, the same score as Silent Hill 2. Destructoid's Silent Hill f review says the game "invites you into a brutal internal battle with friendship, mystery, paranoia, and regret."
The hype around the franchise is still there, so players who missed the 2024 remake and don't want to spend on the new title could enjoy a game from the series right now, when everyone is talking about it.
The game would join Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Cocoon on the list of games being added to the service, though these three are already confirmed and will also be available for PS Plus Essential subscribers. A free trial of Midnight Murder Club will also be available.
The PS Plus October 2025 games lineup is expected to go live later today, October 7. If Silent Hill 2 is on the list, we will get a confirmation from Sony soon.
