Leah Williamson to attend Women’s World Cup final as injured England captain cheers on Lionesses

England captain Leah Williamson will attend the Women’s World Cup final on Sunday when the Lionesses take on Spain.

Williamson injured her knee in April playing for Arsenal, which ruled her out of the tournament.

The 26-year-old was in the stands for the quarter-final win over Colombia and has been in touch with the squad throughout the World Cup.

Williamson will now be at the final in Sydney on Sunday as England take on Spain in their bid to win their first-ever World Cup in the women’s game.

Fellow injured England stars Beth Mead and Fran Kirby are not expected to be at the game, though, as they are currently rehabbing with their clubs ahead of the new season.

England are looking to win their second major tournament in a row after going all the way at Euro 2022 last summer, when Williamson captained the side to glory at Wembley.
