LBC presenter Iain Dale has undergone a hip replacement after tripping on an escalator at Charing Cross Tube station.
The 60-year-old was rushed to St Thomas’ Hospital in central London following the fall on Saturday afternoon.
He told his 270,000 Twitter followers: “This afternoon I tripped at the top of an escalator at Charing X Tube. I was taken by ambulance to St Thomas’s.

He also praised the “superb” care he had received at the hospital, and from the all-female ambulance crew, and “impressive and caring” Underground staff that came to his aid.
His post attracted hundreds of messages wishing him a speedy recovery, sent by fans and colleagues.
In an update posted on Monday afternoon, he added: “Had hip replacement & all is well! Went in at 8.45am & woke up at 12. Pain has disappeared. So happy & relieved!

Mr Dale, who is also a Telegraph columnist and appears regularly as a pundit on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, added that he was up and on his feet again just five hours after the operation.
