Law and District AAC bring the curtain down on a successful season

Law and District Amateur Athletics Club brought the curtain down on the 2021 track season with some top displays at the National Relay and Perth Disability Championships this month.

The club had 21 teams in the National Relay in Linwood, with athletes from age groups U13 to senior taking part, and five of the teams made the podium.

Ross Duffin, Euan Blackwood, Owen Murphy, Calum Hall and Jak Weir won double Gold in the 4x100m and 4x300m at under-15 level, while the under-17 women also stood on the podium twice, winning bronze in the 4x100m and silver in the 4x300m.

Tehillah Ikechukwu Okonkwo, Sophie Evans, Bethany Lang, Jade Gray, Rosie Watson and Fiona Currie took them to glory.

The U17 men finished off the day by winning bronze in the 3x800m, thanks to fine running by Oscar Logan, Craig Cherrie and Logan Whitton.

At the other side of the country, three Law athletes competed in the Perth Disability Championships, doing themselves and the club proud by all winning medals in their respective events.

Liam Nolan won silver in shot put, 400m and long jump; Margaret Newell claimed gold in the 400m and 800m and Derek Taylor winning gold in the 800m and bronze in the 400m.

Finally, senior athlete Ross MacDonald competed in the Scottish 10km Championships in Stirling, achieving 23rd place in a time of 32 minutes and four seconds.
