Laurieston's millennium wall given colourful makeover thanks to painted stones

A wall built in Laurieston to celebrate the millennium has been given a makeover.

Dozens of decorated stones have been placed on top and weeds and undergrowth removed.

The colourful display is on view at the eastern side of the village coming fron Glenlochar.

Balmaghie Community Council invited local residents to paint stones for the attractive artwork.

Chairperson Shirley Thomson said: “We got kids from the local Crossmichael and Glenlochar Playgroup, which is based at Glenlochar, to do a few stones as well.

“We ran a wee competition just to make something look better than it did before. It’s still open to anybody who wants to paint a stone and place it on.

“The wall is a shrub border and which was overgrown and full of weeds. We just thought it needed a wee facelift.”

Nether Crae couple Keith and Sanghee Davidson judged the competition.

A stone decorated by Emma Blower from Mossdale was picked as the winner.
