Laura Whitmore lifts lid on why she spent six months hiding her body

LAURA Whitmore revealed she spent six months hiding her body because she felt “conscious and protective” of her changing baby bump.

The Irish star announced she is expecting a baby with her rumoured hubby, Iain Stirling, earlier this week after the pair reportedly wed in a private ceremony in Dublin last month.

Discussing her pregnancy for the first time, Bray, Co Wicklow native Laura told how her baby news came as a nice surprise after a tough year of tragedy and sadness.

Sharing a first look at her growing bump in a glamorous photoshoot, the 35-year-old told Hunger Magazine: “It’s really surreal.

“Nothing and no one ever tells you that it is your own personal experience.”

On the difficulty of keeping her news under wraps, the star, who is set to release a book in the new year, added: “I’ve spent almost six months hiding or being conscious of my body – well to be honest I’ve spent over 30 years doing this.

“But in particular as my body changed I have felt very protective of my baby bump. Having a baby is very hard to keep quiet because your body and your lifestyle changes.”

The BBC radio DJ, who has worked on air throughout her pregnancy as well as joining the Celebrity Juice team, said she found the first trimester tough as she suffered from morning sickness.

She revealed: “There were a few times on live radio where I actually got physically sick during the show.

“I had one guest in the studio and to this day she still doesn’t know that I’m pregnant and I think she just thought I was hungover.

“I had to run out of the studio and she had to ask herself her own question live on air.

“We were filming Celeb Juice in the studio. When we film that show, it’s such a show that feels like a night out.

“Everyone is drinking around me. I’ve filmed a whole season of Celeb Juice sober and nobody knew.”

Love Island host Laura, who opened up about suffering a miscarriage in the past, explained that while not completely planned, the pregnancy feels as though it has come at the perfect time for her and narrator Iain Stirling.

She told Hunger: “As a timing thing, it probably wasn’t something that we thought about, it was a nice surprise.

“I’m due at the beginning of next year.”
