Laura Tobin says she 'loves' Richard Madeley presenting GMB because he 'has no filter'

Laura Tobin has revealed she "loves" Richard Madeley presenting Good Morning Britain because he "has no filter".

Richard, 65, joined the team in November after host Piers Morgan dramatically quit in May last year after a row with weather presenter Alex Beresford about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah.

And meteorologist Laura, who has been a part of the show for 12 years, told OK! Magazine she thinks Richard is great replacement for Piers, 56.

"I love him. He’s just funny. What’s in his head comes out of his mouth, there’s no editing or filtering. I like that about him", she said.

Laura, 40, added she still keeps in touch with Piers. She said: "I literally texted him yesterday to say, "I have a book coming out! I see you’re in LA but when you come back you can have a copy!" I’ve not heard from him yet, he’s super supportive."

The presenter's comments come as Richard blasted Chris Rock on GMB on Monday, after the comedian was slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith's shaved head.

Not holding back, Richard described Chris as the "most unpleasant person I've interviewed without hesitation".

"I was asked by GQ Magazine some years ago. He was the most unpleasant person I’ve ever interviewed of my entire career, and that goes back to 1972 when I started at a local newspaper", he told Susanna Reid.

"It was for the film Madagascar. Had it been live, it would have been abandoned.

"He was the most unpleasant, rude, aggressive, unlikeable person I’ve ever interviewed on camera, without question. His behaviour was awful in my book. He is the most unpleasant celebrity I've ever had the misfortune of interviewing."

Later in the programme, Richard continued to slam Chris for joking: "Jada, can't wait for GI Jane 2", calling him a "toxic person".

He added: "If a man makes a crude and rude remark about their woman, you are playing with fire. I'm not saying its right."

Susanna, 51, interjected: "That is an assault and it's not ok. There is no justification for hitting another human being."

Richard last month shut down claims he was trying to be the 'new Piers Morgan' (Piers pictured with Susanna Reid) (ITV)

It comes after Richard last month shut down claims he was trying to be the 'new Piers Morgan' as he told the Express : "I am part of a team, I am not, I repeat NOT the new or next Piers Morgan.

"I am me. I’m doing it my way."

The presenter, who first stood in for Piers back in 2017 before joining the team on a permanent basis last year, added: "I don’t do it to the extent Piers did when he was on. I do it quite enough for me."

Richard shares hosting duties with the likes of Ben Shepherd, Adil Ray and Alex.
