‘Laughable’: Trump plays dumb about ex-NSA’s indictment when everyone knows he’s been planning it with Pam Bondi

Instead of working towards a better political theater for Americans, Donald Trump has made theater his policy. In a blatant show of his dishonest self, the MAGA madman claims he had no idea his former security advisor, John Bolton, was being indicted, when it was probably his own doing.

On Oct. 16, 2025, a federal grand jury in Maryland indicted Bolton under the Espionage Act on 18 criminal counts for unlawfully transmitting national defense information and retaining classified materials. Prosecutors allege that Bolton shared over a thousand “diary-style” pages with two relatives and stored sensitive documents in his home and offices. Each count could land him in prison for up to 10 years, but he has pleaded not guilty.

“Bolton used his personal nongovernmental email accounts, such as email accounts hosted by AOL and Google, to email information classified up to the Top/Secret/SCI level to individuals’ personal email accounts,” the indictment reads. (via Al Jazeera)

This has come after criminal investigations against him began in 2022, under Biden’s presidency. Bolton previously served as Trump’s national security adviser from 2018 to 2019, but the two fell out, and he instead became a vocal critic of the MAGA leader. This obviously hurt Trump’s ego, and he’s been out for revenge since. In fact, in his leaked private DM to Pam Bondi, Trump called for an unlawful weaponization of the DOJ to put his personal enemies behind bars.

The accidentally-posted message was plastered all over social media within minutes, and exposed Trump’s evil plans to eliminate his political rivals and establish his authoritarian rule. Bolton also called out Trump on this after his indictment, saying, “I have become the latest target in weaponizing the Justice Department to charge those he deems to be his enemies with charges that were declined before or distort the facts.”

Despite the common knowledge that Trump was behind Bolton, his spin machine seems to be running hard. When a reporter asked him if he has a reaction to the news of Bolton’s indictment, he acted all mute and dumb about it. “I didn’t know that, you told me for the first time,” he said. He continued by calling the former NSA “a bad person,” quipping, “that’s the way it goes,” on his indictment.

But everyone knows Trump isn’t ignorant, and every word out of his mouth was performative. He wants the country to swallow that he was blindsided by an indictment of a longtime target, but it’s plainly naïve to believe his account. Thankfully, users on X did not buy it one bit, and called it “laughable” how he’s feigning ignorance when everyone knows he’s been scheming with Bondi to do exactly this. The user went a step ahead and hilariously called it “insulting to anyone with a memory longer than 5 minutes.”
